Any morning you wake you and you're in Hawaii you know it's going to be a great day, even if it's a bit earlier than you'd want. On Sunday morning of our trip, we had to get up early, because Oahu Photography Tours would be by to pick us up for the Circle Island Sunrise photo tour before the day's sunrise. This was one of the things we had been looking forward to for a long time before the trip. With our cameras and tripod in tow, we waited outside the beautiful Royal Hawaiian, and soon the van pulled up and De-Jay, our guide for the day, greeted us. Already on board was a couple from Australia, then we stopped and picked up two more people. After everyone got acquainted, we rode to our first location where we would be photographing the sunrise over the Pacific.
Our tour is best seen, rather than read, but there is some things to learn about each photo, so click on the pictures for more information and to see them at full size!
For lunch, we stopped at Fumi's Shrimp Truck, just north of Kahuku. This was the BEST coconut shrimp we've ever had! Absolutely delicious!
We arrived back at the Royal Hawaiian around mid afternoon. There was just enough time to get freshened up before it was time to leave out again. We had reservations at Chief's Luau and we were really excited! So, before long, we were out again, driving to Sea Life Park, right by Makapu'u Point, where the show was. There was a stop to get some good pictures at Makapu'u Beach of the lighthouse and some waves. After our photo stop, we drove right up the hill to the Luau and spent the remainder of the day there enjoying the show before we headed back to Waikiki for the night.
